The Big Ride for Palestine has grown into an Australia-wide event to raise funds for the Palestinian Women’s Humanitarian Organisation (PWHO).

The Big Ride for Palestine (Australia) commenced on Saturday 5th September 2020. After a week there are 75 riders or teams participating and over $16,000 raised. Please encourage people to register or to sponsor the ride because the money will go to help Palestinian refugees in camps in Beirut hit by the blast a couple of weeks ago.

“The Big Ride participants feel a sense of unity, they bond through the ride, and they know that they are supporting the people of Palestine.” – Lachlan Hurse TBR 2020 organiser.

“It’s easy to participate. It’s very rewarding, especially if you can do it as part of a team. You know that you’re giving real solidarity to Palestinian people, and it’s a very practical way of supporting people in real need. It’s enriching, rewarding, enjoyable, and it’s a way of taking the issues that the Palestinian people face to a broader group of people who may not be so engaged.”

Kashmir

More than 70 years after the last Maharajah of Jammu and Kashmir signed up his princely state to be part of India, the issue of Kashmir’s status has still not been resolved.

Modi’s Indian government has given citizenship to Indian nationals and is trying to change the demography of Kashmir, formerly an independent state.

In this interview Jamshied Kashkari explains how India has annexed Kashmir even though the Indian government promised the UN that they would respect the sovereignty of Kashmir. Kashmir is an ancient country in Central Asia surrounded by Pakistan, India, and China. It is currently under Indian military occupation with a curfew imposed.

During the cold war both Pakistan and India were client states of the US and the USSR respectively.
